Menter Aberteifi’s objects are ‘To initiate, facilitate, promote and implement projects that will address the community’s needs in Cardigan town and district, enabling people to live full lives by generating opportunities for a bright economic and social future’.
Over the past eleven years Menter Aberteifi has grown in strength and stature as a “grass roots” organisation, helping to facilitate and develop community regeneration projects in the Cardigan area, gaining a reputation of being proactive as a community regeneration group that assists and acts as an interface between voluntary and statutory bodies. The company involves the community as widely as possible through its sub groups and volunteer force to promote Cardigan and district by focusing on the high quality of life, the beauty of the natural environment, the culture and history of the area and enhancing what already exists through carefully planned and implemented projects.
Menter is currently leading a Rural Development Plan project, Ceredigion’s Rural Events Programme. The overall aim of the project is to develop a coherent marketing plan for festivals & events within Ceredigion, together with an investment stream to aid participating events.
This investment is part financed by the European Union through the Welsh Assembly Government, under Axis 3 of the Rural Development Plan for Wales 2007-2013.
Menter also currently runs a programme of festivals and events for the Cardigan area; these fulfil an important role both in community regeneration and in the economic benefits to participating businesses and the tourism sector and include:

Menter is also involved as a partner in a second Rural Development Programme Project Sustainable Tourism in the lower Teifi Valley. This builds upon and extends the work that Menter has been carrying out for the past five years, developing and delivering a marketing strategy for the Cardigan area. We work closely with local businesses aiming to increase the economic benefits of the tourism sector, whilst maintaining the environmental sustainability of the area. This work is also supported by the Countryside Commission for Wales.
